"It is the opposition's habit to disparage the courage of jawans," Anurag Thakur tears into Channi

Thakur, who also oversees the Sports and Youth Affairs portfolio, criticized the Congress for repeatedly undermining the bravery of soldiers and denting the morale of the armed forces by casting doubt on their ability to combat terrorism.

Anurag Thakur, the Minister of Information & Broadcasting, expressed strong disapproval of Charanjit Singh Channi's remarks regarding the Poonch terror strike, labeling them as "disgusting and shameful."

Thakur, who also oversees the Sports and Youth Affairs portfolio, criticized the Congress for repeatedly undermining the bravery of soldiers and denting the morale of the armed forces by casting doubt on their ability to combat terrorism.

"The Congress has consistently failed to support our armed forces. Instead, it has habitually cast aspersions on their actions, demanding evidence for various operations, including the surgical strike, Balakot airstrike, and Doklam. Insulting our soldiers' valor has become a pattern for them," Thakur retorted to Channi's accusation that the Poonch terror strike was a BJP 'election gimmick.'

Thakur also pointed out several high-profile corruption scandals in the defense sector during Congress rule, such as the Bofors and AgustaWestland scams.

Accusing the Congress of advocating for the relinquishment of nuclear weapons, Thakur questioned their motives, asking, "Are they colluding with foreign powers? Why stoop so low during elections?"

He also rebuked National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah for his comment, "Pakistan not wearing bangles," stating, "Regardless of the praise some Indian leaders heap on Pakistan, the reality is that the Indian Army is effectively dealing with enemies on their territory... They are not hesitant to breach our borders."

"These are the same individuals who predicted that the abrogation of Article 370 would lead to chaos in the Valley. However, since its revocation by the Modi government, the Valley has witnessed a new era, brimming with diverse opportunities for growth.

"The stone-pelters have vanished, separatism and terrorism have received a severe blow, and terrorist incidents' casualties have plummeted by 50-80%. Today, the Valley is experiencing a surge in tourism, with over two crore visitors flocking to the region," Thakur emphasized.
